Shield Azure three bars Or, in chief a fleur-de-lis Argent, in basse a corn cob flanked by two rye ears set in saltire, all Argent and leaved Vert. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "MELRES".
Meaning:
The background, we could also say it is barry of 7 of Azure and Or, is representing the seven medieval farms, mentioned in a document of King Dom Manuel. The fleur-de-lis is an attribute of St. Mary, the local patron saint. The cereals are representing agriculture as main business line. They are also alluding to the tributes of Eiradega. The local council in the past was obliged to deliver grain to the majordomo, the local representative of the King.
