Coat of Arms

Shield Azure a Maltese cross Argent, two linden leaves Or and a mace Argent, all set per cross. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "VILAR DE MAÇADA"
Meaning:
The word "maçada" means "mace blow", so these arms ate partly canting or punning — I am not sure whether this toponym is derived from "maça" as in the historical weapon, or from an homonym; "vilar de" means just something like "hamlet of".
