Czerwonak - rural commune, Poznań County, Wielkopolskie Voivodship - medieval name: Czerwony Młyn; name under Nazi occupation: Rotental (1939-45).
Gmina Czerwonak is a rural gmina (commune) in Poznań County, Greater Poland Voivodship, in west-central Poland. Its seat is the village of Czerwonak, which lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) north-east of the regional capital Poznań.
Area: 82.24 sq.km (31.8 sq.mi); Population: 23,692 (2006).
Third largest commune in Poland. Includes the village of Koziegłowy which is the second largest village in the country (over 10 000).
land under cultivation - 44%; forests - 40%.
Rapidly becoming a suburb of Poznań, has quite a bit of tourist attractions.

In 1411 one of the first paper mills in Poland was opened here.
During WW I the Germans kept Russian POWs in the camp nearby.
In 1942-44 there was a circle of communist sympathizers numbering 5 members.

Arms adopted on July 17, 2003 (resolution # 87/XII/2003).

"Arms: a paper mill wheel in natural colors on the green field and above the blue field symbolizing water. On it a beige plaque with the date "1411"."

The flag is not mentioned anywhere, but, as we know it already, "a picture is worth a thousand words", there are photographs of the local mountain climbers proudly
displaying the commune's flag on the summit of Mingi Tau, the highest mountain in Europe (aka Mount Elbrus) on the border of Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia - 5,621m or 18,442 feet).
