My question about its use of a municipal flag was not answered; I did not find a flag in use by the council either, meaning it is very likely it has no flag.

The coat of arms was adopted anywhere between the years 1979 and 1980. It was designed by Martín Alonso León Ruiz, the only person who responded to the municipality's request for a person to design a municipal coat of arms.
In circular format, the focus of the coat of arms is divided into three sections, with a circle in the center. The upper section depicts Trincheras Hill, an archaeological site for
the Trincheras culture which is the namesake of both the culture and municipality. The section on the right depicts a mine and the railroad. The section on the left depicts a cattle
head, cotton, and wheat. Within the circle is a map of the municipality. The border of the main part of the symbol carries the motto "TRADICION Y TRABAJO" [Tradition and Work].
Above this is a ribbon reading "TRINCHERAS"; below it is a ribbon reading "SONORA". In use by the municipality, the coat of arms is entirely in black and white.
