Coat of Arms

The coat of arms was adopted in 1995 and designed by José Jesús Suárez León at the request of Municipal President Juan Pedro Gastélum Ortiz (1994-1997). Description provided by the council::

In the upper part, "San Pedro y San Pablo" is found, that of which carries by name the route of the missions, which signify the patron saints of municipal seat's church: Tubutama. Below, six stars represent the communities integrated into the municipality: La Reforma, San Juan, San José, La Sangre, San Manuel, and Cuchilla. The hill Santa Teresa and the dam Cuauhtémoc can be observed, which are significant elements of the municipal seat. 3 highways, which represent the entries to the town; these connect with Altar, Saric, and Magdalena. Of the left side and the right side, the elements represent cattle-raising, mining, and agriculture, which express the economic activities of the municipality. In the center of the coat of arms the church of San Pedro y San Pablo is found, this being the element which distinguishes and characterizes the community the most. To finalize, in the lower part "Misión de Kino" since Tubutama is one more of the mission routes of Father Kino.
