No Flag

The municipality of Ónavas has no flag, as confirmed to me by local officials. It is not surprising as it is the least populated municipality in the state.

Ónavas adopted its coat of arms around the year 1985. It was designed by Daniel Carlos Icedo and Victor Monge Saavedra; there was no formal process of adoption, it was designed simply because the two wanted the municipality to have a coat of arms. Information thankfully received from the council. Description of the coat of arms, according to the Encyclopedia of Municipalities and Delegations of Mexico:

The coat of arms is described in the following manner: Pentagonal figure with a vertex pointing downwards, concave upper corners, and with branches surrounding it; in its internal upper portion, an inscription which says: Onavas; in the center, an equilateral triangle divided into four minor triangles, in which the following appear: a cattle head, a temple [the local St. Ignatius of Loyola Church], a river with its banks planted, and a pick and shovel in front of a mine.
