No Flag

I was informed that Altar does not use a municipal flag.

Coat of Arms

Thanks to the efforts of the council in performing an exhaustive search of the municipal archives, it is known that nothing is known about the background of Altar's coat of arms. The upper half depicts a typical desert scene, with the sun rising, the mountains, the highway and truck for commerce, the field for agriculture, and the cattle for ranching in the area. The lower half depicts an entrance into the city (by bridge over a river, usually dry) where one can see the Our Lady of Guadalupe church and the municipal building. Dividing both halves is a band reading the municipal and state name.
