Description

Local Council Maccabim-Re'ut is situated in Modi'in region, midway between Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem . Maccabim was named after the family of Jewish heroes (the Hashmonaim) led by Yehuda the Maccabi, who fought against the Greeks in the old times, and came from the ancient town of Modi'in (and gave its name to sport teams including the famous basketball European champion, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, and to the most popular Israeli beer) was est. in 1986. Re'ut (meaning friendship) was est. in 1991. The joint Local Council has 11,000 inh.
The unofficial flag was reported as logo on monochrome background. I drew it as white with a multicoloured emblem but I wouldn't be surprised to see also an outlined emblem on other backgrounds. The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot), 'Publications Gazette' section (Yalkut ha'Pirsumim), YP 4040, 10 September 1992.

According to 2003 legislation, Municipality of Modi'in and Local Council of Maccabim-Re'ut were united into one municipality (Municipality of Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut) with 48,000 inh.
It seems that the new municipality will use Modi'in symbols (maybe with modified inscription).
