Presentation of Gradec

The municipality of Gradec is located some 40 km east of Zagreb, due east of Vrbovec. Population is almost 4,000 inhabitants in 20 villages, some 500 in the main village of the same name.
Gradec was mentioned in the 13th century, its climax is in the time of Zagreb Bishop Maximilian Verhovec at the turn of 18th and 19th centuries. This Gradec near Vrbovec should not be confused with the historical community of Gradec (a.k.a. Grić) from which the modern town of Zagreb developed.
