Compagnie Havraise de Navigation E. Corblet &. Cie. was founded in 1917, succeeding Brown & Corblet. After the Second World War, the company was renamed Compagnie Havraise de Navigation à Vapeur. In the early 1960s the Compagnie Havraise de Navigation E. Corblet & Cie. acted only as managing owners on behalf of the French Government. The company lowered its flag in 1962.

The house flag of CHN, as shown in Lloyd's book of house flags and funnels of the principal steamship lines of the world and the house flags of various lines of sailing vessels, published at Lloyd's Royal Exchange. London. E.C. (1912) [llo12], also available online thanks to the Mystic Seaport Foundation, is blue with the white letters "CHN" in the middle.
A flag simply charged with a "C" was also reported.

Brown & Corblet was established in 1896, aimed at shipping nickel
from New Caledonia to Europe on three-masters. The company is named for its two founders, the American Cicero Brown, US Vice Consul in Le Havre, and Édouard Corblet (1847-1913).
On 6 February 1900, the company lost the Émile-Renouf off New Caledonia. Captain Boju claimed he had wrecked against a reef not shown or
misplaced on nautical maps. Official investigation showed that the
ship had hit the Durand reef, which was accurately shown on maps; the
captain was discharged by the Maritime Court, which had not received
the full investigation report in due time. After several unsuccessful
attempts, the wreck of the Émile-Renouf was eventually found in September 1991, close to the Durand reef.
The house flag of Brown & Corblet, as shown in Navires et marine marchande, No. 15 (2003), is blue with the white letters "B&C".

After 1945, Compagnie Havraise de Navigation à Vapeur used the same flag with the letters "CHNV".
