Introduction

The movie is set in a fictional, yet "typical" North American big city (shot in Vancover, if I reacll correctly, but with lots of editing). No doubts about the country: the U.S. is mentioned several times (explicitely — or implicitely, by means of mentions to the White House, the FBI, etc.).

Unnamed city in the U.S.A.

While it is not unusual to use Esperanto in movies as the language of an unnamed location (see the Internet Movies Database for examples), what is probably unique in Blade Trinity is the use of the Esperanto flag along with it. The flag is seen at least twice in the movie: Hanging from the Police HQ main entrance after Blade is rescued from jail; and flying hoisted from a rooftop pole in the drop-the-baby scene with Blade and Drake. It seems to be an unmodified Esperanto flag, the star perhaps a bit too small. It seems to be the flag of the fictional location where the movie is set, a typical North American big city (shot in Vancover, if I reacll correctly, but with lots of editing). It could be a fictional city flag, or a fictional state flag.
