The flag (photo,

The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 3;5, with a white triangle running from the hoist to the panel's center and charged with a red saltire coupé, the remaining part horizontally divided in the middle, the upper part, blue, and the lwoer part, green.
Coat of arms: Spanish shield. Per pale, 1. Vert a Roman altar, 2. Argent a bend sable superimposed by a chain or. Grafted in base, Gules granitic rocks argent on waves argent (here gules enters the waves to recall the martyr of St. Blasius, the church's patron saint). The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
The Royal Academy of History rejected the proposed coat of arms, which feature a Roman altar, alluding to the archeological sites found on the municipal territory, the arms of the Zúñiga, Counts of Miranda, and a representation of granitic rocks and river Tagus.
The connection of Viillaverdeja with the Counts of Miranda del Castañar, is not significant enough to support the inclusion of the lineage's arms on the municipal coat of arms. Moreovoer, it is always preferable to simplify the design by reducing the number of quarters.
The proposed representation of river Tagus is not compliant with the traditional use: the waves should be argent and azure, not argent and gules, and should reach the borders of the shield.
The Academy did not reject the proposed flag but recommended a change in the golors. The juxtaposition of green and blue, very close on the chromatic scale, can lead to mistakingly viewing only one color when the vision conditions are not optimal.
