Boerde county
Boerde county (Landkreis Börde) is a new county in Saxony-Anhalt,
Germany. The county was established by merging the former counties of Ohrekreis
and Boerdekreis as part of the administrative
reform of July 1, 2007. On July 12, 2007 the parliament (Kreistag)
of Boerde county decided new symbols of the new fused county.
The ministry of the Interior of Saxony-Anhalt gave permission on August
10, 2007. Here now are the official symbols of the new county.

The charge is the Hornhäuser Reiter, the motif of the Hornhäuser
Reiterstein, the Riderstone of Hornhausen. The stone, unearthed in
1874, is the first of four alter panels found in the minicipality of Hornhausen
in Börde district. The rider is presumed to depict a Frankish warrior from
the 7th century.
