Description of coat of arms:
The arms show a golden(=yellow) clover leaf in a red field.
Meaning:
According to source this version was verified by the king of Prussia on 2 March 1908. In a collection of arms of Paderborn, dated 1780, the leaf is green in a silver field. The pattern is known from seals since 1634.
The meaning of the leaf is not clear. Roth thinks it is misleaded cross of the archbishops of Paderborn. Meyer however, informed by the city in 1938, claims, it would be no leaf but three spades of salt workers instead, which is also said to be doubtful.
