Shield parted per pale, at dexter Or a fess Gules, at sinister Azure an embattled gate Argent with open portcullis of the same.
Meaning:
Near Tiefburg Castle, built by Walther of Geroldseck, a market town developed, which gained city rights before 1280. The arms are based on the oldest seal print from 1305, which displayed exactly the current pattern. Already before there had been an embattled tower as symbol of a fortified city. The red fess in a yellow shield displays the family arms of the Lords of Geroldseck.

The banner is in use at least since 1959, maybe without arms. The arms were adopted in 1958.
