Großlohra Coat of Arms

Shield Gules a lion rampant Argent crowned Or holding a crozier Or by his forepaws snd surrounded by four linden leaves Or.
Meaning:
The lion is taken from an old seal and is referring to the former County and subcounty (Amt) Lohra, which used a lion in its seal and arms. The lion was used by the Counts of the Lohra castle. The crozier is referring to the former Benedictine Convent of Münchenlohra. The linden leaves refer to the four villages in the municipality: Friedrichslohra, Großwenden, Kleinwenden and Münchenlohra. The linden is a common tree in the village.
