Meaning:
The village belonged to the Bailiwick of Schönau of St. Blasien Monastery. It became a possession of Baden in 1806 and a municipality in 1809. Seals from the 19th century since 1811 just displayed inscriptions. The charges are referring to Sta. Apollonia, the local patron saint. The pliers are her instrument of torture and the palm frond is a general symbol of martyrdom.
