Description of flag:
The ratio is 3:5. It is a red over white over red horizontal triband with ratio 1:4:1. A red cross moline is in the white stripe and shifted to the hoist.

Meaning:
Bad Pyrmont developed in the 16th century as Pyrmont Neustadt (i.e. new town) around the mineral spa. The oldest known seal from 1848 displays a savage with an Aesculapian staff, symbolizing the spa. A shield with a cross moline is leaning on him. The cross is taken from the arms of the Counts of Waldeck-Pyrmont - owners of the spa until 1918 - and the Counts of Pyrmont - a branch of the Schwalenberg kin. They had their castle Petersberg (Latin: Mons Petri, French: Pierremont) on the Schellenberg mountain near the city. The silver (= white) shield with the red cross moline is continually in use since 1950.
