Bad Sauerbrunn's water's healing power was rediscovered in the 18th century, after it had already been
known to the Romans (symbolized by the viaduct). The present-day village only came into being towards the
end of the 19th century as part of the Pöttsching municipality. In 1909 it became its own municipality.

image located by Martin KarnerThe coat of arms was granted in 1999; it is found in State Official Gazette Resolution No. 273 of that
year. It depicts, on an azure field, a fountain. At the top is a bridge. The fountain indicates its
historic mineral spa (hence its name; Bad = bath, Brunnen = fountain) and the bridge possibly
for transport. Banner adoption date unknown; it uses the colors: blue and white.
