Presentation of Sada

Sada is a commune in Mayotte, located in the center-west of the island. It had 11,156 inhabitants on 1,026 ha.

Sada is built on a hillside, with a cliff coastline, except in the north in Chiconi Bay (mangrove coastline). Sada is made up of two main villages, including Sada, the main village with the town hall and the majority of the population, and Mangajou with an annex town hall. Between the two is Doujani, with the municipal library and the gendarmerie of the center-west of the island. To the south is the beach of "Tahiti plage" (Mtsagnougni). Opposite the village is the islet of Sada, connected to the beach at low tide by a tombolo. In the village of Jimawéni, south of Sada, was the Vanilla and Ylang-Ylang Ecomuseum, one of the main tourist sites in Mayotte. This museum has been closed since 2014.
The descendants of the first Arab colonizers of the Cherifian lineage originating from Hadramaut (the Ba'Alawi) are still present.
