New flag description from city website:
"This design was the most popular of the five finalist designs in the community survey. The triangular design references an envelope (a nod to the postmaster title held by the City's founder), the branches of the Anacostia River that frame the City, and the steep peaks of the City's historic Victorian homes. The light blue is a nod to the color of the City's previous flag, with the addition of yellow from the Maryland state flag, and dark blue as a compliment color. The flower is a stylized version of flowers native to the area, like the Black-Eyed Susan (Maryland state flower), sunflowers, and coneflowers."

The city of Hyattsville has indicated its logo and flag are on its website (http://www.hyattsville.org), although I have not been able to find the flag.

As a note to the history of the flag, the city's Hyattsville Reporter newsletter noted in its 22 Feb 2006 issue that: "The flag was first flown on Sept. 20, 1975, at Magruder Park in a ceremony attended by local civic officials, churches, schools, and the winners of the flag design contest."
