I would like to note that the city of Izyum has adopted a new emblem along with a flag:
The coat of arms is based on a Spanish shield framed in gold. On a blue background, the upper part of the
shield depicts a golden cross, the symbol of the Izyum Regiment. The central figures of the coat of arms
are crossed silver sabers with golden handles and a mountain, made in green on a silver background. The
lower part of the shield contains two silvery wavy lines. The sabers symbolize determination, courage,
honor, readiness to defend the Motherland, and also remind of the Cossack past of the city. The image of
a mountain on a wavy foot symbolizes the Seversky Donets River and Mount Kremyanets, which is a
geological monument of nature and is considered the highest point of the Kharkiv region.
The symbolism was changed to remove elements of the Russian imperialist presence.
