Workers' Party (Chinese, Han script: 工黨; Chinese, pinyin: Gongdang; Chinese, Wade-Giles: Kung-tang) was founded in 1987 by a group of dissidents from the Democratic Progressive Party and was actually registered before it, becoming the first party officially registered after the full multi-party system was introduced in Taiwan [1].

The party flag is green, with a seven yellow stars, a large one placed in the center hoist and six smaller ones arranged in an arch below, rotated so that their top points all point towards the center of large star. The large star symbolizes the workers and smaller ones stand for the farmers, fishermen, women, ethnic minorities, small and medium enterprises and intellectuals - the groups whose interests party seeks to represent [1, 2, 3]. The design, as well as its symbolism, is clearly inspired by that of the flag of China, thus representing not only the struggle for social justice, but also the party's other important goal - peaceful reunification of Taiwan and China. Currently there are no photos of the party flag on the Web, but there are photos of the items which display its image, such as a table flag charged with image of party flag at the top, the rest of field covered with inscriptions in Chinese [2], or a document which displays the flag image at the top, combined with the frame for the text in a way which looks like the official format of party documents [3]; those sources [2, 3] also give the identical description of the party flag and its symbolism, and the latter of the sources also shows a large image which displays the design of the table flag shown by the first of the sources.

Green color of the flag field might have actually been borrowed from the flag of Democratic Progressive Party, being one of its main distinctive features. Green and yellow colors were later borrowed for the flag of the Taiwan Workers' Party, which broke away from the Workers' Party in 2002 under the name of Taiwan Democratic Workers' Party (see message #211579).
