Shield Argent a mound Vert issuant from flanches and from base wavy Argent and Azure barruly wavy of four, in chief a four-pointed star Gules conjoined with a cross fleury of the same voided Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE SANTA CRUZ" (1st line) "DA TRAPA E SÃO CRISTÓVÃO DE LAFÕES" (2nd line, bigger).
Meaning:
As usual for these communes with hybrid toponyms created in 2012 by joining two or more pre-existing communes, in a time when most of them had already established flags and coats of arms, the newly created arms are also themselves a hybrid of those previous ones — such as in this case: The hillock from Lafões, the cross from Trapa, and the waves from
both. (And why isn´t the new commune named more simply Trapa e Lafões?)

This flag replaced an earlier one; the only difference was that it had in the mural crown only three visible towers (commune rank). This previous flag became obsolete shortly after its creation, when the nominal settlement was promoted to town status in 2001. It is likely that depictions of the coat of arms with the trivial change, incl. on flags, were in use even before 2006. Again, the fact that the official seal includes only the contents of the shield, not the mural crown, and its text is always the designation of the commune or municipality, not any nominal setlement rank epithets, allows for its use to remain fully legal after such changes. And the seal is the only legally significant symbol — flags and arms depictions can be officialised later and changed whenever.

The phrase "santa cruz da" means "holy cross of the" and the remaining word may mean either wolfpit, water caltrop, hauling rope, or the Trappist Order. The arms are partly canting, at least.
