[Vau commune CoA] image by Sérgio Horta, 18 Aug 2010

The arms are wavy of ten Argent and Vert on a pale between two crescents recumbent Gules, in base a pair of oars Sable tied Gules, in chief an inescutcheon Azure ten plates set 2:3:2:3. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VAU".
Meaning:
"Vau" means "ford" (cp. "wade") and the pale on waves plus the oars on the CoA refer to that (canting). The green waves refer to the location at the seashore. Inescutcheon and crescents refer to the municipal arms of Óbidos.
