Shield Gules a fig tree Or, in dexter chief a Maltese cross, in sinister chief a watermill wheel Argent, issuant from base a mound of three coupeaux Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "FIGUEIRÓ DA SERRA".
Meaning:
The fig tree is a canting element, as the word "figueiró" is an unstandard hypochoristic (or rather a diminutive) of "figueira" — "fig tree". The mound of three coupeaux is another canting element: The additional epithet "da serra" (= "of the mountains") disambiguates the name. The mound and its coupeaux are generically denotative of a mountain range.

Shield quartered, 1st quarter Argent a church bell tower Argent lit Sable and belled Argent, 2nd quarter Argent an olive branch Vert fruited Sableand at sinister chief a sun Or, 3rd quarter Argent a wall fountain Argent masoned Sable, and 4th quarter Argent a wayside cross Argent.
As said, this commune never had its coat of arms approved by the CHAAP; therefore determinations about the style of scroll and coronet, and of any flag these arms are used on, must rely only on its local use. (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "FREIXO DA SERRA".
Meaning:
The word "freixo" means "ash tree"; the arms are threfore not canting.
It is clear, why these arms haven´t been approved by the CHAAP, given the over all disregard for the mandatory metal/tincture contrast and the forbidden partition of the shield.
