Shield Argent a pilgrim´s staff Azure with annexed canteen Gules fixed of the same, flanked by two potatoe shrubs Vert fruited Gules, issuant from base a double mount Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "VILA FRANCA DO DEÃO".
Meaning:
Staff and canteen are attributes of St. James the Elder, the local patron saint.
