Shield Azure a chestnut tree eradicated Argent with nuts Gules having capsules Or, flanked on either side by a distaff Or in pale with yarns Argent, on base a boot Or garnished Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "CASTANHEIRA – GUARDA".
Meaning:
The chestnut tree (Portuguese: castanheiro) is a canting element. Distaff and boots are alluding to local industries.

Castanheira is one of the 34 communes of Guarda Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes; it had 298 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 24,64 km².
