Coat of Arms

Shield Or a fess Azure charged with an embroidered border Argent, on dexter chief point a bee Gules winged Sable, on sinister chief point a 5-point star Gules, on base a grape bunch Purpure leafed Vert. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE (1st line) VILA COVA DA LIXA E BORBA DE GODIM (2nd line)".
Meaning:
The bees are referring to the municipal arms of Felgueiras, furthermore they symbolise apiary, which has a great tradition in the municipality, and agriculture in general. The star is taken from the arms of the Magro family. Dr. Cerqueira Magro established a local sanatorium in his house. It was converted later to a recreation house. It is taken from the arms of Borba de Godim. The embroidered fess symbolises the production of borders, embroidered of linen and cotton, an important local business line. It is a modification of the border on the arms of Vila Cova da Lixa. The grape bunch refers to another important business line, viticulture.
