I was informed the council does not have a municipal flag.

The coat of arms has the format of a seal. The ring, in yellow and bordered in red, reads "MUNICIPIO GENERAL PLUTARCO ELÍAS CALLES" and "SONOYTA, SONORA" separated by two dots. The actual shield is within;
to its sides are ears of wheat and as its crest is a sun along with a fleck of cotton. The shield is divided into four quadrants. The upper left is supposed to depict the San Marcelo de Sonoydag
mission with mountains in its background; the upper right the head of a warrior, perhaps Geronimo (or a Tohono O'odham man?) along with mountains and a cactus. The lower left depicts a furrowed
field with a tractor over it and a cattle head on the solid ground to the right of it, symbols of the local economy. To the right of this is an image of the municipal building along with a monument
in front, possibly referencing the monument to General Calles, the namesake of the municipality.
