No Flag

It appears that Moctezuma does not use a municipal flag, as I could find no record of one.

Coat of Arms

image from Wikimedia Commons

I was informed by the council that nothing is known about the symbol's history. The coat of arms is divided into six triangular areas by the rays of a sun which reads 1644, marking the arrival of the Jesuits; the sun's rays also lead to different elements of the coat of arms. The upper triangle depicts ears of wheat and corn. To its left is a cattle head, while to its right is a pick and shovel for mining. Just below to the left is a saddle for its leather-making industry; just below to the right is a book for learning. The biggest portion below depicts the Church of Our Lady of Candlemas and the name as established in 1644, "SAN MIGUEL ARCANGEL DE OPOSURA". At the very top is a rectangle reading "MOCTEZUMA".
