I was forwarded historical documents regarding the adoption of the coat of arms of the municipality by its Honorable Council. The coat of arms was adopted in early 1997 (possibly February), and it appears that the government found a designer in Hermosillo to submit multiple proposals. A vote was held in Villa Juárez, and the coat of arms was ultimately chosen by popular vote. Description of the coat of arms, from Chapter 2 of the Municipal Policy of Government and Police:
Article 6.- The Municipality shall have an official heraldic coat of arms which will have the following characteristics:
I.-The Principal part, demarks similarity to the Coat of Arms of Sonora
II.-In the Middle Part: Upper Left Section, the School of the community "José María Morelos" Founded in 1945" the Tank constructed by the First Populators to contain water; the Monument in memory of the colonists Founders of the Irrigation Colony where the Names of each one of the Colonists are inscribed, including the first five Agricultural societies.
III.-Upper Right Section: The grains of wheat and corn, cotton and vegetables which identify the region are identified.
IV.-Lower Left Section: Represents the Agroindustry Symbol of Industrial Development
V.-Lower Right Section: Represents the life in the bay of the tobari [sic], with an example of a crustacean, indicating fishing in the communities of Paredón Colorado, Paredoncito, and Aceitunitas; like that of the path Huivulai Island creates.
