Overview

Die Freiheitlichen (The Freedomites, also translated as The Libertarians)

The Freedomites are a right-wing opposition party (of the German-speaking populace) in South Tyrol, founded in 1992. In internal politics they are more conservative (and frequently xenophopic) than the SVP, and they want the independence of South Tyrol. Party name and much of the party platform refers to the Austrian FPÖ (of late Jörg Haider). They currently have 5 seats in the provincial parliament (Landtag).

The party symbol is a capital letter "F" in white on a blue-yellow field. This symbol is a reference to a former Austrian FPÖ symbol, as well as to the colours yellow and blue used by several liberal parties. The flag is usually used in a vertical, hanging version, and is yellow-blue with the party symbol in the center [1,2,3,4]; the yellow stripe is wider than the blue one (about 10:7).
