The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), better known in Spanish as the "Banco Centroamericano de Integración Económica (BCIE)", is the leading multilateral development bank for countries in the Central American region and serves as the financial arm supporting the region's integration and development. It was originally established, on 15 December 1960, by five founding members in Centra America (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica). It was later joined by Panama, the Dominican Republic and Belize as regional non-founding members, and by Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, the Republic of China, Spain, Cuba and the Republic of Korea, as extra-regional members. It is currently composed of 15 member countries and its headquarters are in Tegucigalpa (Honduras). The bank's resources are invested in projects that foster development to reduce poverty and inequality; strengthen regional integration and the competitive insertion of its member countries in the global economy; providing special attention to environmental sustainability. Since 2016, it has been one of the intergovernmental organizations (without permanent office) to which a standing invitation has been extended to participate as observers in the sessions and work of the UN General Assembly.

The Flag

The [present] flag reproduces the shape of the logo but in white on a dark blue background. The logo has blue and green colors and exists in Spanish and English but I couldn't find an English version of the flag. [Ed - I was able to locate an English logo flag during the editing process] The current logo and flag changed in 2021. The old flag also consisted of a reproduction of the logo in white on a blue background.
