Beremend is a large village in Siklós district of Baranya County, on the Croatian border, it constitutes the southernmost point of the country.
It was already inhabited in the Neolithic Age, as evidenced by archaeological finds. The first documented source mentions it in 1281, when the eponymous Péter Beremeni sold 7 ploughshares of land to his relative. The Beremend coat of arms with a pointed base preserves the memory of this, in which the inscription "BEREMEND 1281" can be read in a split ribbon.
Beremend experienced its heyday under the Hunyadis: in the 15th century it had the status of a market town and the right to hold a fair. After the Battle of Nagyharsány on August 12, 1687, the village was depopulated, and only in the early 1700s did the village begin to be populated again.
It was under Serbian occupation from November 1918 to August 1921, and in the summer of 1921 it was part of the Serbian puppet state called the Serbian-Hungarian Baranya-Baja Republic.
In the late 1960s, Beremend was the subject of much local and national press attention.
Construction of the new cement factory began, and the factory giant was built in just a few years.

The flag of the settlement is white with its coat of arms placed in center of the flag. Ratio is 1:2.
The flag of municipality was adopted by Local Government Decree No. 14/1996. (XI. 13.) issued on 13 November 1996. I haven't found it on line.
