Association France Palestine Solidarité (AFPS, website) was founded in May 2001, as the merger of Association Médicale Franco-Palestinienne and Association France-Palestine. The Statutes of AFPS were last revised during the Extraordinary Congress held on 11 December 2010.
According to the English version of the association's Charter:
The aim of the association is to promote a real and lasting peace, in relation with the Palestinian people and its legitimate representatives in the Mid - East based on the enforcement of international law.
The activities of the association focus on four points:
- Information and political action;
- Moral, material and humanitarian support;
- Help for development and cooperation;
- Mutual exchange and contacts.
AFPS, organized in 90 local branches, was presided from 2001 to 2009 by Bernard Ravenel, a founding (and dis-founding) member of the Parti Socialiste Unifié (1960-1990). Ravenel was succeeded in 2009 by Jean- Claude Lefort, a member of the Parti Communiste Français (PCF) and former MP (1988-2007).

The flag of AFPS (photo, photo, photo, photo, photo) is made of the Palestinian flag - horizontally divided black-white-green with a red triangle placed along the hoist, with the white letters "AFPS" placed vertically along the hoist and the logo of AFPS placed in a white disk in the center of the flag.
