Symbols of El Pinar

The Municipality of El Pinar in the Province of Granada, Andalusia, has its own symbols approved by the General Direcorate of Local Administration on 14.07.2022.
María José Mártir Alario is the author of both the coat of arms and the flag.

  • Coat of arms:

Description: On a gold field, three decreasing mountains forming a green mountain range towards the sinister, with a silver square surmounted by a red Latin cross on the highest peak, and a green tree on the other two peaks. To the sinister side of the range, a green olive branch with five black olives. In base, a red bridge, masoned in black and with gold openings, having four arches, the leftmost being twice as wide as the other three, over waves of blue and silver. A silver border, with the inscription 'El Pinar' in chief, and a red pomegranate, split silver and left green in base. The crest is a closed royal crown.
Meaning: The three population centers are represented on the coat of arms. Pinos del Valle is represented by the hills, where the hermitage and the cross stand out. Acebuches is represented by the branch of this tree. Ízbor is represented by the 19th-century bridge. The border contains the pomegranate, representing this kingdom.

  • Flag:

Description: Divided vertically into three stripes of equal width: blue at the hoist, green in the center and red in fly.
Meaning: The choice of these colors reflects the desire to represent the abundance of water in the area (blue), the pine forests that give the municipality its name (green), and the land (red).
