In 1965, during the Provisional Government of President Héctor García Godoy, the "Secretariado Técnico de la Presidencia" (English: "Technical Secretariat of the Presidency") was created, as an Advisory Body of the Executive Power, in functions closely linked to the process of national development.
On 8 September 1965, Law No. 10 was issued, which abolished the State Secretariat for the Presidency and created a "Secretariado Técnico" (English: "Technical Secretariat") and a "Secretariado Administrativo" (English: "Administrative Secretariat") in charge of the Presidency ofthe Republic.
On 22 November 1965, to exercise the functions of orientation and coordination of the economic and social policy of the public sector, Law No. 55 with which the "Consejo Nacional de Desarrollo" (English: "National Development Council") is created and integrated and a "Sistema Nacional de Planificación Económica, Social y Administrativa" (English: "National System of Economic, Social and Administrative Planning") is instituted, within which the "Secretariado Técnico de la Presidencia" (English: "Technical Secretariat of the Presidency") plays a major role.
Subsequently, through Decree No. 613-96, dated 15 December 1996, the "Consejos de Desarrollo Provinciales" (English: "Provincial Development Councils") were created, and on 31 July 1997, through Decree No. 312-97, the "Reglamento de Aplicación" (English: "Application Regulations") for these Councils were approved.
The "Ministerio de Economía, Planificación y Desarrollo" (English: "Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development") was created in 2006, as the "Secretaría de Estado de Economía, Planificación y Desarrollo (SEEPyD)" (English: "Secretary of State for Economy, Planning and Development"), by Law No. 496-06, changing its name to Ministry with Decree No. 56-10 of 6 February 2010.
