Since 1 January 1994 Aeschi includes again the former commune of Burgäschi, which had been independent since 1830.

The water in the emblem stands for the small Burgäschi Lake south of the village; the tower reminds the castle of the Lords of Stein, built around 1100, destroyed in 1332 in the Gümmenen War between Bern and Habsburg.
