Comité Olympique Belge (COB - Belgian Olympic Committee) was founded on 18 February 1906 to prepare the Belgian team for the 1906
Intercalated Games - organized in Athens to celebrate the 10th
anniversary of the 1896 Olympic Games, initially recognized by the IOC but dropped from the official list in 1949.
On 16 July 1925, COB merged with Comité National d'Éducation Physique (Physical Education National Committee); it was then presided by Count Henri de Baillet-Latour (1876-1942), also President of the IOC (1925-1942).
In 1978, COB was renamed to Comité Olympique et Interfédéral Belge (COIB) / Belgisch Olympisch en Interfederaal Comité (BOIC), acting as the coordinating structure of 76 national sports federations, for both Olympic and non-Olympic sports, and of course as the IOC-recognized Belgian Olympic Committee.

The flag and the emblems used by COIB / BOIC in relation with its activities shall be submitted to the IOC for approval. They are the exclusive property of COIB/BOIC.

The former flag of COIB / BOIC (photo) was white with the organization's former emblem framed
by a black rectangle. The former emblem of the COIB / BOIC is made of the Olympic rings surmounting three ascending curved stripes in the Belgian national colours (black-
yellow-red).

Special Olympics Belgium (fact sheet) was established in 1979.
As of 2019, the program involved 19,830 athletes and unified partners and 2,600 coaches, for the practice of 27 sports.
The flag of Special Olympics Belgium (photo, photo, photo, photo, photo) is red with the program's logo in white. The former flag (photo) was white with the program's former logo.
