The flag

In May of 2015, the city reconfirmed the design that was initially adopted in October 1997.

In recognition of the May as Arkansas Heritage Month and 165th anniversary since the town of Monticello was founded in 1849 by the Drew County Court, the City Council will vote at its May 26, 2015 meeting to formally adopt the Monticello City Flag that was approved by City Council in October 1997.

In 1997 the City Park Elementary School second grade classes of Mellie Jo Owen and Susan Smith designed the Monticello City Flag as part of activities conducted in celebration of the community's 145th year since the Arkansas General Assembly incorporated the City of Monticello in December of 1852.
