It is a fairly typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain red field (village rank).

The arms are Argent two beehives Sable garnished Argent set in fess and in chief a scallop Gules and in base a harrow Gules armed Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "SOPO".
Meaning:
The scallop is an attribute of St. James of Compostela, the local patron saint.

Sopo Commune is one of the 11 communes of the Vila Nova de Cerveira Municipality (q.v.); it had 576 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 13,91 km².
