Shield Or a cross patty Gules charged with a Greek cross Argent, flanked on chief by a cat passant Sable and on base by an owl volant Sable armed Or. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "MUXAGATA - VILA NOVA de FOZ CÔA".
Meaning:
The cat (Portuguese: gata) is a canting element. The cross is that one of the Order of the Knights of Christ.

Muxagata is one of the 12 communes of Vila Nova de Foz Côa Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes; it had 267 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 27,36 km².
