It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of green and white.

Coat of Arms

Shield Argent with base Sable masoned Argent, enhanced a heraldic fountain, flanked by two almond branches in saltire. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "ALMENDRA".
Meaning:
The branches of almond (Portuguese: almendra) are canting elements and also representing the local Viscounts of Almendra. The heraldic fountain is a representation of the local Fonte Grande (= great fountain).

Almendra is one of the 12 communes of Vila Nova de Foz Côa Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes; it had 309 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 54,51 km².
