Shield Or, an eradicated banana tree Vert fruited of the same and blossomed Purpure at sinister, base wavy of Azure and Argent, the Argent bar charged with three grey mullets Gules in fess. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "RIBEIRA DAS TAÍNHAS".
Meaning:
The communes name means "bank of the grey mullets (Port.: taínhas)" and is alluding to the riches of that kind of fish. Base and fish are thus canting elements. The tree is representing agriculture, especially the cultivation of bananas.

Ribeira das Taínhas is one of the six communes of Vila Franca do Campo Municipality; it had 703 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 9,9 km².
