It is a slightly untypical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field.

Shield Argent with base wavy of Vert and Argent, three pines Vert ordered 2:1, flanked by two branches of sand sedge, chief Azure charged with a radiant sun Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "CARRIÇO - POMBAL"
Meaning:
The base with green and white waves is symbolizing the Atlantic, being one border of the commune, the pines are representing the local flora, the sedges (Port.: carriços, Latin: carex arenae), a species of grass, are canting elements.

Carriço Commune is one of the 13 communes of Pombal Municipality; it had 3653 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 84.8 km².
