Shield Gules with base wavy of Azure and Argent, issuant from base a doublemount Argent, a Paschal Lamb passant Proper surrounded by an annulet Or. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "ALPENDORADA E MATOS".
Meaning:
The Paschal Lamb is an attribute of St. John the baptist, the local patron saints.

Alpendorada e Matos was one of the 25 communes of Marco de Canavezes Municipality affected by the 2013 changes. It had 5580 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 10,5 km².

Shield Azure with base wavy of Azure and Argent, issuant from base a doublemount Vert, superimposed by a traditional Port wine barrel cargo Douro river ship Or rigged Argent, sailing on base, on central chief a pillory Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "FREGUESIA DE VÁRZEA DO DOURO".
Meaning:
The boat and the base wavy are alluding to the Douro River, used for the transport of wine by boat.
