It is a fairly typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a quartered of yellow and black field.

The flag is and the coat of arms has a silver field with a big green cross of Avis with a yellow three-towered castle over the intersection of the arms. In the free space at the bottom two “heraldic” black eagles face the cross, a latch Sable in dexter (bendy) and sinister (sinister bendy). Mural crown with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DO ALNDROAL".
