Blazon: I grønt en sølv spiss, skråstilt venstre høyre, dannet ved bølgesnitt.
In English: Vert a pile wavy argent issuant from base dexter.
Approved by the royal resolution of 1 February 1985 after a drawing by Ottar
Jarl Myrvang. [c2j87]
The wavy pile symbolizes the Målselv River that runs through the municipality
and is a namesake of the municipality. It makes serpentine-like loops through a
fertile valley.
