The town emblem was adopted on Jul 1st 1949 but there is no flag law.
The white flag has a green, a red and a blue three color town emblem in the center.
The town emblem is a stylized kanji 平 Bira of Biratori in a cercle form.
Japanese gentian is a crest of Yoshitune shrine symbolizing a wisdom, a human heartedness
and a bravery. The pigeon with the sun and the polar star represents an ideal peace and a surge.

The town emblem was adopted on Jul 14th 1970 and the flag was adopted on Apr 1st 1959.
The blue flag has a white town emblem in the center.
The town emblem is a stylized hiragana え E of Erimo.
The circle stands for the fishery industry and the arrowhead for the dairy and animal
industry. It represents the town people’s concord and solidarity.

The town emblem and the flag were adopted on Mar 1st 2006.
The purple flag has a blue, a green and a red with a white fimbriation town emblem in the center.
The town emblem is a stylized hiragana ひ Hi of Hidaka.
The red circle stands for the people’s smiley face and the sun, the blue color and the green
color for the town’s surge by the merger of two towns.
The flag proportion is 2: 3.
The height of the emblem is 3/5 height of the flag.
The length of the emblem is 8/15 length of the flag.
They use also a blue ceremonial flag charged with a yellow emblem and
yellow fringe.

The blue-green flag has a yellow town emblem in the center.
The town emblem depicts the settlers’ instrument, a horseshoe, an anchor and a crown
as Northland’s symbols. It represents the town’s future and the town people’s peace and solidarity. The blue-green color stands for the glassland and blessings from the sea and the
yellow color for the color of elm tree bark.

The diameter of the emblem is 3/5 height of the flag and 2/5 length of the flag.
